Merlin's Magicians July 2009 Flyball & Agility Newsletter
A busy month with lots of training and all going very well. We also have the promise of a van and man to move the set of Agility equipment to Ferryside in a few days time so........................... watch this space, we will be starting Agility there shortly.
As for the Flyball we have some brilliant new additions. Welcome to, Ferryside, Christine with Duffy a delightful Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel, Sarah with Pip a feisty Patterdale cross Lakeland Terrier, only been a few weeks and already both dogs are doing really well and........ drum roll.................... Prospective Height Dogs!! Welcome to Starlight, Dave (Del) with Sadie, a keen WSD Cheryle with Alfie a promising Cross breed. (and Diesel who shows promise of being a good ‘cheer leader’) both doing well but especially Sadie who, after just a few sessions has got the message beautifully and promises to be a ‘Flyball Dog’ Jan with Lady, a very pretty Welsh Sheepdog, is also promising but due to family commitments (two very young children) Jan is unable to come as often as she would like.
Georgina’s second dog Bo is a Staffie cross he is raring to go, if you like the idea of Flyball but don’t have a dog that shares your enthusiasm, if you can get to Starlight Georgina is happy to let you help train, and run Bo.
Well, we went to Anglesey and the dogs were a credit to us all, they didn’t put a paw wrong, they weren’t the fastest so didn’t actually win anything but we were delighted that they all ran faultlessly, and with that in mind may well be trying ‘Division’ racing next time! That way we will be against dogs doing around the same speed as us. Congratulations to the Carmarthenshire Chargers a much faster team, who came second, they were running at something like 21 seconds. Well done.
We all decided to try camping for the first time, oh boy!!! The rain came down in buckets, the wind howled it wasn’t exactly a great introduction (plus it buckled my nice new awning legs!!) but, we did enjoy ourselves and the company was great. Racing in the morning was done in pouring rain (some pictures of our wet mutts will hopefully be in the picture gallery very shortly) It cleared somewhat in the afternoon but, unfortunately it was just too chilly to show off our lovely Purple T Shirts!!
Mike, a friend of mine who is visiting from Hereford is going to come to our training sessions this week and see if he can get some more pictures for the picture gallery, both Flyball and Agility, he also videoed a race at Anglesey and when we can work out how to transfer it to PC we will be able to view it!!!!
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who supported me, by email, phone or whatever during Liam’s illness, and say that he is well on the way to complete recovery now.
