Merlin's Magicians Newsletter
FERRYSIDE NEWSLETTER – JUNE 2011
Not a great deal to say this month, did I hear ‘Makes a change’?
We decided not to compete this month, but have two teams going up to Nantwich, the Magicians in division and the Apprentices in Starters. I have just completed an entry form for this years ‘Champs’ for August.
Sadly, I don’t think I shall be at either of these tournaments, I am hoping to have a hip replacement operation in a few weeks time. The sooner the better now, from being a bit painful and inconvenient my hip has gone to desperately painful needing Morphine as an analgesic. This all within a matter of months. I do have an admission date 18th July, but, it is dependent upon my having had an MRI scan of my back, the appointment for this has yet to materialise, so, nothing definite.
Mike is coming from Hereford to take care of most of my dogs, Dolly is going, where she usually goes when we‘re away competing, holidays with my Granddaughter who spoils the old lady rotten: - ) I don’t think she (Dolly) is going to be impressed to find she will have to share with Pretzel who is going with her. Sarah is going to have Charlie Brown for the few days I am in. It is great to have friends and family to rally ‘round.
We seem to have lost numbers yet again, people start, seem all enthusiastic then after a couple of times disappear. I used to ring people but now I’m afraid I just leave it, I am easy enough to contact. We have a good solid few, enough for a team. Debs with Roxy has competed a few times now and Elaine & Danny with Pepper are doing Starters at Nantwich. Looks like we could be losing Sarah, due to a change in her work circumstances, this is quite a blow especially with me being so incapacitated at the moment but.................after the Champs we have only have one more tournament and, next year we will be back!
We have the Kidwelly Carnival display 9th July. I shall be on the Mike, something I can do sitting down. Debs has said she will give Charlie Brown a run, unfortunately, Annie & Rusty just won’t run for anyone else. As for Thistle, I couldn’t be so cruel as to inflict her on anyone, even though I know she wouldn’t care two hoots! It would be the Red Arrows circling overhead and Thistle circling on the ground!!!
Told you it was a short one, will report on the Display and tournament next month, I am very envious of the team going to the latter, combining Beulah and Ferryside dogs, they have a good team and........we won’t be there : - (

BEULAH
Basically no news!
People on holiday, courses or fallen off the face of the earth means when we have 2 lanes set up we can put the effort into distraction work with a dog in each lane and nobody loitering on the sides.
We have had to enforce the "dogs on leads" near the practise area however Brenda has set up Agility Equipment in the other field so that they can be doing something if not running.
We all wish Tally our Star Boxloader (and runner of Jed!) all the best in her Horse Championships - she has been picked to compete at Stoneleigh!!!!
