Merlin's Magicians Newsletter

Ferryside Newsletter Nov 2011.

Short but sweet I’m afraid.

A good month as far as training is concerned, the weather has been extremely kind and not a session missed.
The agility equipment is now in my ‘Smithy’ (Garage) for its winter maintenance.
I have had quite a few enquiries for Flyball, but unfortunately people take all the details seem really keen, and then just don’t turn up, Sunday morning syndrome?
Our new dogs Corrie and Betty are doing very well, although I have had to split the classes so that they train with ‘soft’ dogs. They found running with Roxy or Rusty a little daunting, and, let’s face it wouldn’t you? We now run Corrie and Betty with Charlie Brown, Billie and Micky. And Roxy and Rusty run with Freddie and Annie, not that Annie is a ‘hard’ dog but, she doesn’t mind who she runs with and makes up numbers in either group. Thistle, who couldn’t care less about other dogs, is just a ball junkie, can run with any. Little Megan,  does a good job as box loader and, is now running Charlie Brown, he is such an easy boy, bless.
Thank you to all who turned up for the meeting and meal at the Bluebell, we had a great time, after the serious business of course! The usual fantastic carvery meal plus, Crackers from Debs, thank you Debs: - ) birthday cake from Debbie, Happy birthday Debbie : - ) a real party atmosphere.
Minutes for the meeting will follow this newsletter when I receive them, one of the issues we discussed was funds, any suggestions/ideas re fundraising please, you tell me who and I will write the letters asking for donations or sponsorship. We need more team polo shirts. We also decided that any money we are given for demonstrations will be put to one side with a view to eventually purchasing a new Flyball Box for use at tournaments.
On a personal note, my broadband was down for 5 days, not only did I get severe withdrawal symptoms : - ) but the frustration was a killer! Newsletter due, things to do etc etc... You really don’t realise how important the internet has become until you lose it.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS

 June

Beulah – Ceredigion

well - there is no news!  November was spent with Brenda and me walking the dogs round her fields.  Practise has now finished for the year, as long as the ground is not frozen we will be starting up again in March, however it will be on a Saturday afternoon.  Anyone on the email list will be notified of the date closer to the time - if you have not got an email and the weather is icy it means we have not started back yet!

Georgina

Minutes from Merlin’s Magicians Flyball Team meeting held at Cynwyl Elfed on Sunday 27th November in the Bluebell.

Attendees:  June, Mike, Brenda, Debbie, Andrew, Megan, Debs, Paul, David, Gemma, Rob,Georgina

June thanked everyone for coming.

Potential dates for Tournaments were handed out (June had highlighted the closest ones planned for each month) – list attached.
Winter practise has stopped in Beulah.  It will restart in March if the ground is safe.  People who attend there will be notified by email when a date has been decided – it will be a Saturday afternoon.

Ferryside will continue to practise until it is unsafe to do so.  June has found an old mobile so will text people if it is cancelled (please let her have your text numbers!)

MONEY

£210 in funds.   We agreed it would be a good idea to buy a new combination lock for Ferryside.
Brenda will speak to the reps about getting funding towards the cost of shirts for new team members (Brenda has spoken to the Pfizer rep since the meeting).

FUNDRAISING

It was agreed that the proposed training weekend of 17-18th March 2012 will have a “come and see” element to try and attract new members.  Suggestions for other ways to raise money would be to have a fun dog show, have a go flyball and agility, and a photographer (Brenda looking into this) and raffle on the day.

No AOB.

NEXT MEETING

Date to be arranged before the Training Weekend.
